PAIN Research is the official international journal of the Japanese Association for the Study of Pain (JASP). The journal is managed by an Editorial Board consisting of the Co Editors-in-Chief, Section Editors, Associate Editors, Advisory Editors, and Editorial Officers.
Editorial Structure and Responsibilities
The Co Editors-in-Chief have overall responsibility for the scientific and editorial quality of the journal and make the final decision on submitted manuscripts.
Section Editors oversee manuscripts within their respective areas of Clinical Science and Basic Science and work with the Co Editors-in-Chief and Associate Editors to ensure appropriate editorial assessment.
Associate Editors assist in the evaluation of submitted manuscripts, selection of appropriate expert reviewers, assessment of reviewer comments, and preparation of editorial recommendations.
Advisory Editors provide scientific and editorial advice to support the development and quality of the journal.
Editorial Officers support the operation of the journal and coordination of editorial activities.
Selection of Editors
Members of the Editorial Board are selected by the Japanese Association for the Study of Pain based on their scientific or clinical expertise, experience in pain research, and ability to contribute to the peer-review and editorial process.
Appointments to the Editorial Board are made through the governance procedures of the Japanese Association for the Study of Pain.
Editorial Independence and Conflicts of Interest
Editorial decisions are based on the scientific quality, originality, relevance, and suitability of submitted manuscripts and are made independently of commercial or other external interests.
Editors do not participate in the editorial decision-making process for manuscripts for which they have a conflict of interest. Such manuscripts are handled independently by another qualified editor in accordance with the journal’s standard peer-review procedures.
